Jake Sorensen is the Principal at Gem Prep: Pocatello (GPP) where he provides integral leadership helping students and staff do their best work.
Jake has been working with Gem scholars since 2016, when he initially accepted a position in Gem Prep: Nampa as a partner teacher, while completing a degree in education counseling. Most recently, he’s served as GPP’s Assistant Principal strengthening student and teacher success specifically in the secondary grade levels.
Previously, Jake enjoyed serving as school counselor for students in three Gem Prep schools. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Utah State University, and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Capella University, and an Educational Leadership Degree from Boise State University.
His passion for education aligns with Gem’s belief that all scholars can be successful with the right support. When not at work, Jake can be found spending time with his family enjoying board games, motorcycling, flying remote-controlled planes, and working on the family farm with his wife and daughter.
