Gem Prep: Nampa recieves New Schools Venture Fund Grant
Idaho School Receives Prestigious Education Innovation Grant
October 2015– NewSchools Venture Fund has never invested in an Idaho school. However, in their most recent “Catapult” grant challenge, Gem Prep: Nampa was one of 14 schools chosen out of 82 applicants nationwide.
The Catapult grant challenge was “established to launch new schools – the kinds of audacious, life altering schools that can truly prepare our students to pursue their most ambitious dreams.” https://www.newschools.org/blog/launching-newschools-catapult
The $100,000 NewSchools Venture Fund Catapult planning grant is awarded to innovative educators who are making a difference by re-imagining the student experience in an effort to prepare students for tomorrow’s workforce, with a long-term goal to have a ‘catalytic’ impact on student success nationally. Schools that meet key benchmarks may further qualify for additional financial support ranging from $200,000 to $400,000 on average.
Gem Prep: Nampa is most excited about the NewSchools support that reaches beyond the financial impact. NewSchools offers assistance on a national scale; from strategic planning, fundraising support, peer sharing, team building and management assistance.
Gem Prep: Nampa’s blended learning school is scheduled to open in August 2016, serving grades K-4 initially; growing to grades K-12.
